Carla Jean Curtis

Carla Jean Curtis, 66, Liberal, died March 24, 2024, at Southwest Medical Center.

She was born on Dec. 16, 1957, to Howard and Dorothy (Sarchet) King at Scott City.

On May 2, 1987, she married David Curtis. He preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2020.

Carla was a 1976 graduate of Scott Community High School. Carla worked as a bookkeeper for Pizza Hut.

She and Dave later owned and operated KD Liquor in Liberal. During the annual Ozfest events in Liberal she would play Glinda the Good Witch.

She enjoyed sewing, outdoors, boating, skiing, camping and growing her vegetable garden.

Carla is survived by her parents, Scott City; daughter, Amanda Blackburn, of Colorado; sisters, Karen Andrews, Lawton, Okla., and Carmen Veal, Gage, Okla.; brothers, Jim King, Scott City, Ken King, Redmond, Ore., Ron King, Canehill, Ark.. and Jeff King, Lake Jackson, Tex.; and two grandchildren.

There will be no public viewing as cremation has taken place. A private family urn burial will take place at a later date.
