Eric ‘Sam’ Hedges

Eric (Sam) Hedges, 85, died in Topeka at the Aldersgate Village, on April 6, 2024.

He was born in Offerle to Benjamin and Hazel (Schenck) Hedges on May 10, 1938.

Eric attended Garden City Community College to play football, then served in the U.S. Army in Germany.

Eric worked for John Deere and Farr Better Feeds and served as president of the St. Mary’s Catholic school board in Garden City. He worked for Scott Pro Feeders for over 20 years.

Eric married Sharon Sheehy in 1960, at Kitzingen, Germany. She survives.

He was actively engaged in family activities and outdoor pursuits.

Other survivors include his children, Shawn Hedges, Grapevine, Tex., Stephen Hedges and wife, Deena, Galva, Ann Fletcher and husband, Mike, Topeka, and John Hedges and wife, Melissa, Austin, Tex.; five grandchildren, Benjamin and wife, Shasin, Andrew and wife, Jessica, Eric, Sarah, and Gretchen; and two great-gradchildren, Luke and Mia.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and all his siblings, Harold, Benjamin, Eugene, Robert Lynn, Eldon Thomas, Ronald, Donald, Edward Emmett, Ethel, Beulah, Olive, Mary, Erma, Ella May and Carol.
