Shana Nicole Carman

Shana Nicole Carman, 50, Colby, died March 30, 2024, at Citizens Medical Center, in Colby.

She was born on August 28, 1973, to Larry and Carol (McElderry) Westerman.

Shana graduated from Kensington High School in 1992 and attended Cloud County Community College and then Fort Hays State University where she received a Masters degree in speechlanguage pathology. Shana worked for the Northwest Kansas Educational Service Center for over 20 years, helping give children a voice.

On June 10, 2000, Shana married Curtis Carman, in Kensington and they made their home in Colby. He survives.

She loved spending time with her family, friends and especially her children. In her spare time, Shana enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening, flowers and sitting with her kitties.

She is also survived by her daughters, Oaklynn, Coryl and Blaidynn; her mother, Carol Friesen and husband, Gary; father, Larry Westerman and wife, Tonja; brother, Michael Westerman and wife, Jolene; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Shana was preceded in death by an infant baby, Riley, and her grandparents, Frank and Julia Westerman and Marvin and Betty McElderry.

Vigil was held on April 4 at Baalmann Mortuary, Colby. Funeral Mass was April 5 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Colby, followed by burial at the Selden Cemetery, Selden.
